Help Is on the Way for Honey Bees

Scientists are working hard to develop insecticides that actually will help save the honey bees. Honey bees are susceptible to a variety of pests that can weaken and kill the hive. In particular, scientists are hoping to target the Varroa mite and the small hive beetle, which are leading causes of colony losses worldwide. The new insecticides will work by targeting specific proteins found in both the mites and beetles, but not in the honey bees.
