Bee America Wins GDUSA Award for 2014 American Package Design

Food & Beverage Award Designed by Top Shelf Design

Each year, GDUSA spotlights areas of excellence by graphic designers in packaging, point-of-purchase and the entire in-store graphics experience. This year, Bee America was selected as a winner in the 2014 Food & Beverage category for the Graphic Design USA American Package Awards. In 2014, GDUSA experienced a 12% rise in entries totaling 1,800 around the country. Approximately 15% are recognized as winners.

The packaging for Bee America was designed by Top Shelf Design, a Washington DC web design and graphic design firm. The designs created for Bee America are for the company’s new line of honeys, called the American Heritage Collection. The collection features 18th and 19th Century America Inspired blends of honey that sustained Americans as they explored and settled in the United States. The honey in this collection recreates the adventure and spirit of our forefathers and tells a story of the formative era in American history.

In designing the labels, Bee America asked Top Shelf Design to feature paintings from the Hudson River School. Top Shelf Design derived a richly-hued color palette from these paintings while incorporating contemporary details with circular crests tailored to each era. The package designs aptly represent the free spirit and adventure of our American History.

Winning designs will appear in April in several media included the printed GDUSA’s 2014 Package Design Annual as well as a digital, web and app version; print readers and online visitors are expected to exceed 75,000.
