Honey Bees Can Be Trained to Detect COVID

Cool Science: Researchers have found that honey bees can smell SARS-COV-2, which is the virus that causes COVID-19. Bees, like ants, can smell with their antennae and are especially sensitive to a variety of scents. The scientists in the study presented the bees with a range of different samples and when the bees rolled out their tongues in response to the the COVID-positive samples, they were rewarded with sugar water. As with ants, the bees were trained in only a matter of minutes and in theory, could check COVID tests within seconds.
